ELS Conditional Admission Network Participant

EducationUSA centers are the U.S. State Department‘s network of over 400 advising
centers in 170 countries designed to assist local students find the appropriate University or university in the United States.

International students must provide evidence of a good scholastic background, satisfactory proficiency in English, and adequate financial support to cover the cost of their education. Applicants are required to submit the following:

  1. A completed application form.
  2. An official English Proficiency score report from TOEFLiBT, IELTS, or an ELS Level 112 Completion Certificate. A minimum TOEFLiBT of 61, or IELTS Band Score of 6.0 is required. Satisfactory scores on either the ACT or SAT may be submitted in place of English Proficiency scores.
  3. Official academic records. All documents must be official and in English. Applicants are responsible for providing verified translations of transcripts. Photocopies are not acceptable unless they are certified by the proper academic official, complete with an original signature and seal. Photocopies must be sent directly to the Admissions Office by the appropriate education official. All collegiate records must be submitted to www.wes.org for evaluation.
  4. A completed Financial Statement or official letter from a bank stating the applicant possesses adequate financial resources to fund each academic year of planned attendance.
  5. An immunization/vaccination record.

Transfer Students: All applicants transferring from another US college or university must also submit official transcripts from those colleges previously attended, whether or not any credit was earned at the institution(s). Additionally, transfer international students must submit a Non-Immigrant Transfer Clearance form. Form I-20A, Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant F-1 Status, will not be issued until all necessary admission documents are on file in the Admissions Office.

Financial Aid: When you apply for admission, you are also applying for merit-based scholarships listed below. Scholarships may be renewed each semester, for up to 4 years. Note: International students are not eligible for any federal assistance.

Williams Baptist University is a Christian, liberal arts college which will become Williams Baptist University in July of 2018. Williams is a private institution, owned and operated by the Arkansas Baptist State Convention.

Location

Williams is located in Walnut Ridge, a community of just over 5,000 people in northeast Arkansas. The larger cities of Little Rock, Ark., and Memphis, Tenn., are within a two-hour drive. Opportunities are readily available near the campus for hiking, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

History

Williams was founded in 1941 as Southern Baptist College by Dr. H.E. Williams. The school became a four-year institution in 1984, and the name was changed in honor of Dr. Williams in 1991.

Student Body

The student body includes men and women from 12 states and five foreign countries. Enrollment for the fall 2017 semester was 500. Over 75% of students on the Walnut Ridge campus are resident students.

Academics

WBU offers 25 major fields among its diverse programs of study. The student/teacher ratio is 14:1, allowing students to receive personal attention from their instructors. Average classroom size is 17. 100% of professors with advanced degrees in their fields.

Williams is known for its family atmosphere, where students are encouraged to get involved in student life from the very beginning.

More than 20 student clubs and organizations are active on campus, including The Cast, a Christian drama group, Williams Singers, the official school choir which travels to churches in and around Arkansas, Campus Ministries, International Club, Student Advisory Board, social clubs and academic honor societies.

The Eagles and Lady Eagles field 19 varsity teams, and students can also compete in a wide range of intramural sports. Several concerts and dramas are held each year, as well.
